THE URBAN PANIC
This fiction novel is about a Philadelphia neighborhood that unravels under a wave of kidnappings and murders. It is the author's first self-published novel.
CHALLENGES:
As a freelance graphic designer and illustrator, my objective was to work with a talented author to satisfy the demand. The demand was to assist with the publishing of the new novel. After that, introduce advertising, marketing, and leverage social media to increase sales and brand awareness of a new book.
SOLUTIONS:
Generate creative deliverables for the client based on the novel, discussions with the author, marketing strategy, and cost analysis. My task was to present creative options (sketches, presentations, traditional artwork, layouts, book cover design, graphic design for posters, flyers, bookmarkers, and social media content) for final production.
ONLY SOME OF THE DELIVERABLES ARE SHOWN (ART/DESIGN BY TONY ODOM):
1) Book Cover Art/Design
2) Book Cover Art/Design and Layout
3) Book Maker Art/Design
RESULTS:
There was an increase in brand awareness and increased sales of books. Softcover books were sold only online and in small bookstores. After that, it expanded to Barnes & Noble, Amazon, ebooks, and audiobooks.
